Amazon Beauty Advent Calendar.

Amazon Beauty Advent (Part 2).

This year I got the Amazon beauty advent calendar. This is a 24-day calendar and features different makeup and skincare products. The reason I like these types of advents is that there are so many products inside that I wouldn’t normally try. The Amazon beauty advent has a product value of £215. I am going to split the contents of this calendar into two parts. Click here to see part 1. If you’ve already read part one, let’s get into the last 12 days!

Definitions For Common Ingredients In This Post:

Surfactant = A cleansing agent.
Humectant = Hydrator that pulls moisture from the environment.
AHA = Alpha Hydroxy Acid Chemical exfoliator (increases the risk of sun damage).
BHA = Beta Hydroxy Acid chemical exfoliator targetted more at breakouts and acne.

Day 13: e.l.f. Velvet Matte Lipstick ‘Shade Blushing Brown’.

I’ve never tried any of e.l.f.’s products, I keep meaning to pick a few bits up to try but I never get round to it. Now I can try one of their lipsticks. This is a brown, which I actually prefer to a pink toned nude.

Day 14: AHC Essential Real Eye Cream For Face.

Eye cream for the face, that sounds like a new one to me. I’m not sure whether to be confused or excited. Let look into it.

Good Ingredients:

Glycerin, a humectant.
Niacinamide (Vitamin B3), can help improve fine lines, enlarged pores, and a weakened skin barrier.
Squalane, full of antioxidants and it also moisturises the skin.
Borago Officinalis Seed Oil (Borage), is a rich source of fatty acids making it highly moisturising.
Oenothera Biennis Oil (Evening Primrose), is full of fatty acids. Evening primrose moisturises and soothes the skin. It can also help other ingredients absorb.
Ficus Carica Fruit Extract (Fig), is full of antioxidants and can help very dry tight skin by preventing transepidermal water loss. Figs do contain psoralens which can make the skin more sensitive to sun damage.
Centella Asiatica Extract is a source of amino acids that improves the skin moisture contents.

Turns out there is a lot of great ingredients in this product to the point that it would a post all by itself to list them all. Let me know if you’d like that in the comments down below. This ingredient list is impressive, but also extremely long.

Day 15: Real Techniques Miricle Powder Sponge.

My favourite makeup sponge is the Real Techniques Miracle Completion Sponge, I haven’t tried this one though. It has the same shape as the complexion sponge, I wonder how ill get on with this one.

Day 16: Garnier SkinActive Moisture Bomb Eye Tissue Mask ‘Orange Juice and Hyaluronic Acid’

I’ve tried a few of these eye tissue masks and I love them, they’re nice to just take some time out. I love the one in the blue packet, it’s a nighttime one that goes over the whole eye, it so soothing. I haven’t tried this orange one, and I’m a little skeptical about this one as orange is known to be potentially irritating, but we’ll see.

Good Ingredients:

Glycerin is a humectant.
Camellia Sinensis Leaf Oil (Green Tea), is full of antioxidants. Green tea also has soothing properties.
Sodium Hyaluronate is the salt form of Hyaluronic Acid which is a humectant. Sodium Hyaluronate is more effective than pure Hyaluronic Acid.

Day 17: Find. Lip Kit ‘Shade 04’.

Another Find. product, this lip kit has a matte lip fluid and lip gloss. In shade 04 the lip fluid is a deep red, and the gloss is clear with white fine glitter. That’ll be perfect for Christmas day. From what I can figure out this is an Amazon Beauty exclusive brand.

FIND. Lipkit.

Day 18: Biore Witch Hazel Ultra Deep Cleansing Pore Strips.

I used to use nose strips a lot as a teenager, but I haven’t used them in a few years they can really irritate the skin barrier. I wouldn’t recommend using them if you have sensitive skin. That being said I may try these out and see how I get on.

Good Ingredients:

Glycerin is a humectant.
Melaleuca Alternifolia Leef Oil (Tea Tree), is full of soothing antioxidants. Tea tree, however, does have fragrance irritants in it.

Note:

There are many irritants in this product especially if you are sensitive to fragrances. These are:
Melaleuca Alternifolia Leef Oil (Tea Tree Oil) – Potentially.
Hamamelis Virginiana Leef Extract (Witch Hazel).
Parfume.
Menthol.
Limonene.
Linalool.

Day 19: Purity One – Step Facial Cleanser.

This is one brand I’ve heard of but never tried. This is the reason I love these calendars as it’s got new things in for me to try.

Good ingredients:

Sodium Lauroamphoacetate is a mild and gentle surfactant.
Limnanthes Alba Seed Oil (Meadowfoam) is full of fatty acids. This is a skin softener, and can help offset sun damage and the skin absorb antioxidants better.
Glycerin is a humectant.

There’s a lot to be careful of within this product if you have sensitive skin. This cleanser is full of fragrance, such as Carbomer, Linalool, Rose, and plenty more plant extracts. In this cleanser, there is also Isopropyl Alcohol which is rubbing alcohol. Even though it’s a wash-off product I would still be very cautious of this.

Day 20: Sanctuary Spa Sleep Mist.

Most sleep mists are made to spray on the pillow, however, this one is made for the face, body, and bed. I’d be cautious of this due to all the fragrances, but there are some beneficial ingredients.

Good Ingredients:

Hydrolyzed Hyaluronic Acid is a humectant.
Glycerin is a humectant.

Everything else in this mist is synthetic or natural fragrances such as essential oils. If you have sensitive skin I would avoid using this on your skin.

Day 21: John Frieda Miricle Drops Hair Mask.

This hair mask claims to restore damaged and weak hair to stronger and resilient hair.

Good Ingredients:

Dimethicone is a silicone that forms a barrier on the hair and skin to prevent moisture loss.
Plukenetia Volubilis Seed Oil also known as Sacha Inchi Oil which is a dry oil rich in omega 3 and 6. Dry oils help to moisturise.

Day 22: Belei Nourisihing and Protecting Sheet Mask With Caviar Extract.

I love sheet masks to just sit back and take time out. Sheet masks are just paper like sheets soaked in serum or oil. I’ve never heard of this brand which is what makes it exciting.

Good Ingredients:

Kaolin is clay that helps to absorb excess oils.
Glycerin is a humectant.
Sodium Hyaluronate is a salt form of the humectant Hyaluronic acid and is considered more effective.
Ubiquinone is also known as coenzyme Q10, this can have antioxidant benefits on the skin.

Note:

There are some sensitising ingredients in this face mask such as Polyvinyl Alcohol, Parfum, and Sodium Hydroxide. This mask does have caviar as the last ingredient. Caviar extract has no beneficial research into affecting the skin.

Day 23: Sleek i-Divine Mineral Based Eyeshadow Pallette ‘Shade All Night Long’.

In last year’s Feel Unique advent calendar I got one of these on Christmas eve. but in a different shade. I really enjoy these eyeshadows, they’re creamy and blend so well.

Day 24: Emma Hardie Moringa Cleansing Balm.

This is another product I got in last year’s advent calendar. I love cleansing balm, my Fvaourtoe being Lush’s. Click here to read about how I use cleansing balms. I love how soft and oily this one is so I was happy to find this in this year’s Amazon beauty advent calendar.

Good Ingredients:

Vitis Vinifera Seed Oil (Grape), is an emollient that is high in antioxidants.
Prunus Amygdalus Dulcis Oil (Sweet Almond), is an emollient that is full of fatty acids.
Glycerin is a humectant.
Helianthus Annuus Seed Oil (Sunflower), is full of fatty acids that help to restore and nourish the skin.

Note:

This cleanser is full of sensitising ingredients such as synthetic fragrance and citrus oils. This can be irritating to sensitive skin, however, this risk is lowered by it being a wash-off product.

I am so happy with the Amazon Beauty Advent Calendar. There’s been so much diversity in the product types, and there’s plenty of brands and products that I haven’t tried yet. Let me know if you’d like a more in-depth review of any of the products once I’ve tried them, in the comments. I’d also love to know if you’ve had a beauty advent calendar this year, and which one if so.

If you’re interested in any of these products at all, you can of course get them on the Amazon Beauty Website.

What did you think?, i'd love to know!
