I am a stickler for routine, as mentioned in my full nighttime routine post. I love the order that comes with a routine, the sense of feeling like I’ve got my life together. As I’ve previously mentioned, skincare is a massive thing in my day to day life, I love using new products, and products that have just become a staple.
The main thing that keeps my skincare routine going is the skincare routine app, I have a full post about this here. I have all my products on this app, and I tick them off as I use them to make sure I don’t use conflicting products together.

My morning skincare is nice and simple, as I don’t like anything too heavy for under my makeup. I use a lot of my products at nighttime and as occasional treatments. I have sensitive combination skin.
- Cleansing Lotion
I always start off with cleansing lotion and a cotton pad to remove any dirt produced in the night, and to start moisturising the skin. The one I am currently using at the moment is Boots Expert Cleansing Lotion.
- Toner or Essence
I next follow up with a toner, or essence just to again help remove dirt, but to also get off any oily residue for the cleansing lotion. I like toners and essences as you can get them for specific skin concerns. I am currently using either Nip + Fab Dragons Blood Essence, or Hello Body Cara Relive Anti-irritation Face Toner, use this link to get 40% off of Hello Body.
- Eye cream
I am currently using two different eye products in the morning. I first use treatment, then an eye serum. At the moment I’m using The Ordinary Caffeine Solution 5% + EGCG and, Clinique All About Eyes Serum which is a rollerball serum, so it helps alongside the caffeine solution to depuff which is my main eye area concern.
Time for moisturiser, to well, moisturise the skin, I’m not sure this step needs any explanation. The one I am currently using is Goodness Every Morning Moisturiser, this is enriched with essential oils with fatty acids to help protect and nourish the skin.
The most important part of skin care is sun protection, the sun can be so harmful. My favourite face SPF is the Mimitika Face Sunscreen. I have a post all about this here, it’s truly wonderful to use.
Nighttime skincare is my favourite as this is where I use the majority of my products, as your body does a lot of regenerating whilst sleeping. I also love the feeling of a clean, nourishing face before bed. Nighttime skincare is the perfect opportunity to wash the day away.
- Cleansing Balm
I first start off with a cleansing balm, I love these to take away makeup and get rid of tough sun cream. If you’ve read a lot of my posts or know me, it’ll come to no surprise that my favorite is Lush Ultrabland.
- Oil-Infused Micellar Water
After using a cleansing balm, I use oil-based micellar water with cotton wool, just to make sure that all traces of makeup are removed. The reason I prefer an oil-based one is because oils are great at removing tough makeup, but also because normal micellar water dries out, and irritates my skin. some of my favourites are Garnier Micellar Water Oil Infused Facial Cleanser and Nivea Micellair.
- Toner or Essence
Just like my morning routine, I use a toner or essence for the same reasons as in the morning, but especially to remove the oily residue from the makeup removing.
- Eye Cream
I use a different eye cream in the evening than in the morning, I prefer something heavier for overnight, as my under eyes get very dry. For a year, or maybe even longer I have been using Olay Total Effects Eye Transforming Cream.
I love serums, just like toners, there are so many different ones out there for different skin concerns. I have so many to try out, but at the moment I am using Nip + Fab Dragons Blood Fix Plumping Serum, this is great for plumping, and moisturising.
Just like in the morning I moisturise at nighttime, to just like before… moisturise my skin. In the evening, I like to use Benefit Total Moisture. This is fairly heavy but sinks in like a dream.
That is my daily morning and evening skincare routine. depending on the situation this changed, but this is my average routine.
When my mind or my skin needs it I will have a face mask, and every other day I use a chemical exfoliator and The Ordinary Granactive Retinoid 2% Emulsion, however, like all direct acids, monitor your skin whilst using them, and start off slow and steady.
